Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu has reportedly completed his move to Wydad Casablanca, reuniting with his former coach Rulani Mokwena.
The 31-year-old midfielder had been without a club since parting ways with Sundowns in June.
Zungu’s transfer to Wydad has been on the cards for several weeks, with Mokwena publicly expressing his admiration for the player.
The duo previously worked together at Sundowns, and their reunion in Morocco is seen as a positive move for both parties.
Wydad Casablanca are set to unveil six new signings, with Zungu expected to be among the announced players.
The Moroccan giants are looking to strengthen their squad under Mokwena’s guidance and challenge for domestic and continental honours.
Zungu’s departure from Sundowns has sparked speculation about potential outflows at the Pretoria-based club. Players like Khuliso Mudau and Teboho Mokoena have been linked with moves away from Masandawana, with interest from both local and international clubs.
As the transfer window progresses, it will be interesting to see how the departures and arrivals at Sundowns will impact the team’s chances of defending their DStv Premiership title.
