Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki has shown empathy towards the club’s supporters, acknowledging the intense pressure that comes with managing the Soweto giants.
Ntseki was at the helm of the club during a challenging period, ultimately leading to his departure in October 2023.
The coach faced criticism and even incidents of fan misconduct during his tenure, including missile throwing. However, Ntseki believes that such behavior is not exclusive to his time at the club and that it’s a broader issue that needs to be addressed.
“I don’t think the supporters were very impatient with me,” Ntseki told Metro FM.
“What happened was not happening for the first time.”
Ntseki also shed light on the circumstances surrounding his appointment, revealing that he took over the first team coaching role after the club’s initial choice, Nasreddine Nabi, failed to materialize with his own technical team.
This, coupled with the team’s previous struggles, created a challenging environment for the former Bafana Bafana coach.
“I think what needed to happen at that time was for the supporters to understand why the expected coach could not come to the club at that time,” Ntseki added.
“So when you look at my appointment from the word go, the supporters were not happy. Already there was a bit of frustration.”
The former Chiefs coach emphasized the high expectations placed on the club, stating that fans demand immediate success in terms of trophies and league titles. However, he stressed that achieving such goals takes time and patience.
Ntseki’s departure marked the end of a tumultuous period for Kaizer Chiefs, and the club has since appointed Nasreddine Nabi as their new head coach.
As the Glamour Boys embark on a new chapter, they will be hoping to win back the support of their passionate fan base.
