Former Kaizer Chiefs striker, Bernard Parker, is set to embark on a new chapter in his football career as an assistant coach at TS Galaxy.
The club announced the appointment of Parker as part of a coaching restructure following the departure of head coach, Zlatko Ramovic.
Parker will initially take on the role of interim coach for an upcoming match before settling into his assistant coach position.
TS Galaxy chairman, Mlamuli Sukazi, expressed the club’s excitement about Parker’s transition into coaching.
“Bernard Parker will be there (as an interim coach on Saturday),” said Sukazi.
“We have also promoted from the DDC coach that we gave him. He will be the second assistant coach to the head coach. Thato means the coach will come with his first assistant and Parker will be the second. So, it’s three of them. Parker is also busy with his coaching badges.”
Sukazi acknowledged the challenges of parting ways with Ramovic, highlighting the coach’s significant contributions to the club.
“It was not easy at all to let him go, we’re very close and it’s hard when your other part just leaves you,” he said.
“But at the same time I looked at how much he has contributed in our club, his talent. I was hoping that a big club in South Africa could snatch him first but that couldn’t happen. That’s why even in Morocco they saw this talent.”
Parker’s appointment signifies a new era for both the player and the club.
As a seasoned veteran with a wealth of experience, he is expected to bring valuable insights and leadership to the coaching staff.
