Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart has expressed his belief in Gaston Sirino’s ability to make a significant impact for the Soweto giants.
The 33-year-old Uruguayan joined Amakhosi as a free agent in the recent transfer window and has quickly settled into the team.
Sirino, who spent seven seasons with Mamelodi Sundowns and won seven PSL titles, brings a wealth of experience and a winning mentality to Chiefs.
In his three appearances for the Glamour Boys, he has already contributed two assists and a goal.
Maart has praised Sirino’s quality and his positive influence on the team.
“He’s a quality player, you can’t take that away from him,” Maart said.
“He’s making a difference in the team, and we appreciate it as a team. He’s a happy person, he’s a jokey person, and there are times when he’s very serious where work is work.”
Maart has also credited the work of Majdi Safi, the team’s Strength and Conditioning coach, for helping Chiefs achieve their fitness goals.
“I think what he wants, he puts it out clearly for everyone, for each and every player and the technical team, and what he wants, we have to give it to him,” Maart said.
Over the weekend, Chiefs secured their first unofficial trophy of the season by defeating Marumo Gallants in the Cufa Cup. The match ended in a goalless draw, but Amakhosi prevailed in a penalty shootout.
As Chiefs prepare for their Carling Knockout Round of 16 clash against SuperSport United on Saturday, they will be hoping that Sirino and the rest of the team can continue their positive form.
