- Chiefs expected to have a busy transfer window as they seek to rebuild the squad
Kaizer Chiefs’ quest for a major squad overhaul has taken a new twist, with former Amakhosi star Junior Khanye urging the club to target five specific players, including two from arch-rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
Khanye, known for his outspoken views, believes Chiefs need a drastic shake-up following another trophyless season.
Speaking to iDiski Times, he named Sphelele Mkhulise and Sipho Mbule as the two Sundowns stars who could revitalize the midfield at Naturena.
“Some of the players I want them to sign sit, currently, at Sundowns; but Chiefs got money,” Khanye stated.
“I think they can go and get those players because, in the [PSL], most of the [Chiefs] players [are not good enough].”
The former midfielder also recommended Cape Town Spurs’ Ashley Cupido, Stellenbosch’s Jayden Adams, and Thabo Moloisane as additional targets.
He believes building the team around these five players would significantly improve Chiefs’ fortunes.
Khanye’s comments come amidst widespread speculation about a mass exodus at Naturena this summer.
Several players are expected to depart, and the club is actively searching for a new permanent manager to replace interim coach Cavin Johnson.
While Khanye’s suggestions are likely to spark debate among Chiefs fans, there is no denying that the club needs a major injection of talent if they hope to challenge for silverware next season.
