Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt a significant blow as two of their new signings, Bongani Sam and Edmilson Dove, have been ruled out through injury.
The club has confirmed that both players picked up injuries during the team’s pre-season training camp in Türkiye, dampening the excitement around their arrivals at Naturena.
Bongani Sam, who joined Kaizer Chiefs from Orlando Pirates, and Edmilson Dove, who signed from TS Galaxy, were expected to play key roles in the team’s plans for the upcoming season.
However, their setbacks will now force the Amakhosi to reshuffle their defensive options as they prepare for the start of the 2024/25 campaign.
The extent of the injuries and the expected recovery timelines for Sam and Dove have not been disclosed by the club, but their absence will undoubtedly be a concern for new head coach Nasreddine Nabi.
As Kaizer Chiefs continue their preparations for the new campaign, the focus will now shift to ensuring the swift recovery of Bongani Sam and Edmilson Dove, as the club looks to build a competitive team capable of challenging for trophies in the upcoming season.
