Kaizer Chiefs is preparing for a significant overhaul of its squad during the upcoming January transfer window, with several players facing uncertain futures under coach Nasreddine Nabi.
Reports suggest that as many as seven players could be on their way out of Naturena.
Among those rumored to be departing are Aden McCarthy, Thatayaone Dihtlokwe, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Manqoba Ozoeman, George Matlou, Mduduzi Mdantsane, and Christian Saile.
McCarthy, in particular, has struggled to find consistent playing time and appears to be outside of Nabi’s plans.
Dihtlokwe’s situation is complicated by the recent signings of Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel, who have established themselves as the club’s preferred defensive pairing.
The Botswana international has also expressed a desire to leave Chiefs in search of more regular playing time.
Ngcobo, a former academy graduate, could be the subject of a surprise departure.
Despite his potential, the midfielder has failed to cement a regular starting spot. Matlou and Mdantsane also appear to be surplus to requirements, with no concrete plans for their future.
Ozoeman is likely to be loaned out to gain experience, while Saile’s position is uncertain.
The striker was retained in the previous transfer window due to Chiefs’ inability to sign a replacement, but his long-term future at the club remains in doubt.
As Chiefs prepare to bolster their squad with new signings in January, it is clear that a number of players will be making way.
The club’s decision to offload these players reflects Nabi’s desire to build a competitive team capable of challenging for trophies.
