Kaizer Chiefs’ pursuit of Angolan star Anderson Cruz has stalled, leaving a gap at left-back to be filled.
Cruz, a versatile defender comfortable in multiple positions, was seen as the ideal replacement for S’fiso Hlanti, who departed the club at the end of June.
Negotiations reportedly broke down due to financial disagreements. The 28-year-old Cruz, with experience across Europe and South America, desired a higher salary than what Chiefs were willing to offer.
This setback forces Chiefs bound coach Nasreddine Nabi to explore other options. Nabi, known for his tactical masterclass, will need to identify a new left-back to solidify his defensive line before the season kicks off.
