Mamelodi Sundowns star Grant Kekana finds himself at odds with the club over a contract renewal, according to journalist Skepe Matsebane.
The reigning DStv Premiership Defender of the Season is reportedly fuming after rejecting two offers from the Brazilians.
Kekana was initially presented with a two-year extension with an option for a third year, but the sticking point appears to be a lack of salary increase. He understandably rejected the offer, feeling undervalued for his contributions.
In an attempt to bridge the gap, Sundowns Sporting Director Flemming Berg returned with a revised offer – a one-year contract with no option to extend, but still without a significant salary bump.
This latest proposal has left Kekana “fuming” according to Matsebane, suggesting a growing rift between player and club.
With negotiations seemingly stalled, South African giants Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly circling. The potential for a high-profile move to their Soweto rivals could be an attractive option for Kekana if he decides to leave Sundowns.
The situation remains fluid, but one thing is clear: Grant Kekana is in no mood to settle for anything less than what he believes his talent deserves.
Mamelodi Sundowns face a critical decision – meet his demands or risk losing a key player to a major competitor.
